Chise is apart of the war, she is the ultimate weapon in the defense force of Japan. Its a test of love and commitment as Chise and Shuuji are confronted with several hardships.

For a 2006 movie I was heavily disappointed. The graphics are so bad it seems like they did it on purpose or put no effort into it. Not only the special effects are bad the characters look like they come from the 80’s. This film looked older than it is but what makes it worse is the plot and ending. I wasn’t a real fan of the anime of which this is based off, I’ve heard many good things about the manga and I’ve heard many negative aspects about the anime, mainly being the crying and “sad” music being overused. Well the anime is ok at most but I can understand that some people may enjoy the constant crying, emotional stuff etc. But this movie is on another level, a lower level that is. This movie put me off, I ended up skipping through it and I think the main reason is because of the poor visual quality.

The series is better and the manga tops it, though theres allot of better stuff out there. I’m not a fan of these kind of romance genres I prefer the mixture between comedy and romance over the more serious stuff.

Cgs are not the best, but that’s how the qualities are like in Japan. It’s the best they can do, they don’t have all that money to spend on like Hollywood-made movies, so give them some slack on that. Otherwise, I would have to agree that the entire love story is a lil immature; not caring about the war and just go have fun and on dates. But then again it’s a pretty original because in which movies that have war and love tied together do they have characters that are that childish? It brings out something pretty original IMO, so even though it sucks to a certain perspective, I would recommend watching :P

If this live action is at least half as good as the anime then its a really good movie. Unfortunatley I lost my faith in Saikano after the anime OVA sequel they released where they tell the story from the military side. It was really lame. I have never seen a live action that is better than the anime, it would be interesting if they spend more money on good special effects, Im sure they could do something interesting that way.

I never got around to watching the live action Saikano. I downloaded it, but the tracker vanished before it finished. I guess I saved myself some time. I liked the anime a lot. I thought it was very depressing, and for some reason that made me like it. XD I can understand about people not liking so much crying, but characters are dying all around, what else should be expected?
