Yamato Nadeshiko is a common term used in Japan to describe the ideal beautiful woman. Sunako Nakahara is a girl who is far from being the perfect girl however a group of boys are given the task to transform her into a lady and therefore we have the title “Perfect Girl Evolution.” When younger Sunako was traumatized after being labeled “ugly” by the boy who she confessed her love. After this incident she became reclusive and generally developed a fear of pretty boys of which she refers to as “dazzling creatures.” Sunako’s aunt on the other hand is a rich and independent woman who is desperate to change her niece into something more lady like. Luckily she is the owner of a mansion which happens to be housing four extremely handsome and popular boys. These four students are given the task to change Sunako in exchange for living in the mansion free of charge. Although the four are able to make Sunako physically attractive the difficult part is with her personality. Sunako has no intention in changing her tastes, her love for all things macabre (gruesome and horrifying content) is a difficult challenge that the boys must face. Similar to the popular Ouran High School Host Club series the series deals with the extravagant life of a group of bishounen characters who cause nose bleeds to girls where ever they go. It’s a shojo series with lots of sparkles and flowers that can be enjoyed by guys just as much as girls.

Firstly I gotta say that some people may not like the animation. There are two types of drawing styles that are frequented in this series; the more conventional style of which I disliked and the “chibi” style that often appears which is what drew my attention. Some may argue that it is pure laziness for the artist not to render fully drawn background characters but I found that it is a style itself that is hard to implement successfully. In the case of this series the animation quality does fade, there are moments when the frames look awesome and others where you just want to cringe. A good example of great animation without the need for detail would be the popular series Lucky Star which often portrays background characters as simple shapes or single colored. The series is full of comical moments that will keep you laughing throughout the series, there is some jokes that require some knowledge of Japanese anime but I’m sure most of you will understand it.
