Hiyu Tatsuma is a mysterious transfer student attending Magami Academy. However one day in Shinjuku, Tokyo a series of mysteries involving several deaths unfold. Soon it is revealed that the cause of these deaths are by demons (Oni). In order to protect his friends and potentially save the world from destruction Hiyu along with his friends fight the monsters that appear. Along with Hiyu, Horaiji Kyoichi of the kendo club, Daigo Yuya of the wrestling club, Sakurai Komaki from the archery club and Misato Aoki all possess Ryumyaku (Dragon Vein). Once awakened the power of the Dragon Veins heed them in their battle against the demons. However we find that there are much more sinister beings behind the murderous demons and unfortunate as it may be they are soon faced with the choice of giving up the one they want to protect.

As you can see from the screen shots the action that is animated in this series is superb. With nice flowing battle scenes along with a considerable amount of close up fighting effects the series caught my eye with its animation. Also Tokyo Majin doesn’t hold back on the gore, when appropriate they didn’t hesitate to show limbs being cut off, body parts being sliced up, and a whole assortment of interesting scenes such as decaying and dried up bodies. With regards to the story the plot is fairly well constructed, you have your main protagonist and his “rival” and in addition you even have a childhood friend. Behind all the guts and fighting this series is quite shounen oriented. By that I mean there is a tragic circumstance between the main male character and the main female character and to not spoil the whole series I will just end by saying, its a good series if you like seeing weird freakish beings along with a good dose of action.
