In the future after a great disaster, Japan like many other countries has become a desolate land where the surviving humans struggle to adapt and live in the harsh environment. In the Great Kanto Desert the inhabitants seek food and water, although these necessities are hard to come by some make a living by becoming bounty hunters. Desert Punk follows the life of Kanta Mizuno known as Sunabouzu. Known for his ability to accomplish anything he has become renowned as a reputably member of the handyman guild. As a jack of all trades those who belong to the handyman guild make a living through taking requests on various tasks. Though at times the jobs may not be exciting or enjoyable, Kanta meets a variety of people on his travels. There are some that hate him, those who adore him and others who see him as a rival. Nevertheless Kanta is only interested in one thing, money.

We all love watching a clumsy yet talented protagonist. Having that particular hero of the story a complete pervert also ads to the comic relief. But I was quite surprised by the detailed artwork featured in this series. I really didn’t expect much from the series and maybe thats why I was quite pleased after viewing it. There is quite allot of detail given to the background as the desert concept probably wouldn’t have worked if it wasn’t. Creating a theme behind a series is no easy task, its quite easy to stuff things up. After all this could have just been another anime with bounty hunters. It may not have been as popular of as successful as Cowboy Bebop but Sunabouzu is something that would appeal to the tastes of the shounen fans out there.
