I tried Simoun and was turned off by them needing to kiss before starting their mecha-like engine. However, I push on and continue watching and my impression of it change from disgusted to confused and finally to chaotic confusion. I think it focuses much on philosophical issues that I have trouble grasping and the whole idea of being able to select their gender when they reach a certain age just seems so weird to me. The ending didn't help much but adds to my confused state of mind, I failed to grasp the gist of the plot.

The animation at times is inconsistent but it may have been due to the mixture of 2d and 3d art forms. The ending wasn't what I expected but the twist they decided to include was quite interesting. Simoun probably doesn't suite some people, but for a Yuri series it is quite well constructed.

I personally didn't like this series much since the graphics were badly presented and inconsistent. The werid ending didn't help either. But I do love the ending song a lot.
