Based on the popular online role playing game Ragnarok Online the series follows the journey of Roan a swordsman and Yuufa the acolyte. As childhood friends the two travel across the Kingdom of Rune Midgard fighting foes and strengthening their relationship. Through their journey they meet a merchant named Maaya who is traveling with her Poring Poipoi. With the help of Judia a hunter and Takius a mage with a blindfold the group explores the land as well as their dark pasts.
Although based on a great game the series does not live up to the popularity and success of Ragnarok Online. I found the story quite boring and the animation average. Although a RO fan may appreciate watching their favorite game come to the animation screens they will most likely be disappointed at the lack of quality with this series. It’s hard to explain what could improve this series but its quite obvious that converting a game into a series isn’t easy especially if its an rpg game. Although I can’t exactly say why this series was so terrible I can say that if you watch an episode or two you’ll understand what I mean by an overall lack of quality.
