Sawamura Seiji is a high school delinquent with right handed punch that demonstrates he is the toughest in the region. However he isn’t any ordinary delinquent, he is one who tends to protect the weak from the strong instead of the general bully who picks on the weak. Hence he is popular amongst many of the youths he helps however as a consequence he finds it hard to attract girls due to his reputation. After being struck out multiple times when trying to find a girlfriend Seiji can do nothing but hope for a miracle. Although the miracle appears it is something not only unexpected but also completely bizarre. His right hand changes into a girl and whats more the girl that replaces his hand is none other than Kasugano Midori a cute green haired girl who has had a crush on Seiji ever since she saw him. Midori no Hibi tells the story of these two people and their attempt to co-exist together in daily life. Midori has fallen for Seiji however there is sure to be competition ahead. On the other hand Seiji is less than pleased with his new hand as he can no longer exert the same amount of fighting power as he used to however this may be a good thing depending on the perspective.

I have no idea what the guy who wrote this story was smoking but it must have been good. Midori no Hibi is a harem anime and by that I mean a series with one guy and multiple girls who gradually fall for him. Although the series follows the same format as many other harem animes it stands out with its weird but entertaining plot. A girl as the hand of some guy, well thats something new. I have to admit that when I first saw this series it was the “girl as a hand” concept that caught my attention. After all it is something different for a change. The character Seiji is one of those typical delinquent characters who will do anything to protect his friends. Midori is a typical harem protagonist who struggles to get Seiji’s attention at first however later on becomes his center of attention. Although I don’t usually enjoy these harem genre serials as the story is quite predictable and can get quite tiresome if there is a slight twist that can keep my interest like this series it sometimes turns out to be a great watch. Although it may not be as obvious as compared to anime films such as Love Hina or Chobits, Midori no Hibi would be considered a classic in my opinion. A great plot with nice animation, certainly one of the better harem serials out there.
