Urashima Keitaro is a ronin, a student who has failed the yearly entrance examination for university and therefore decides to spend the next year studying to retake and hope to be accepted into the university of their choice. As for Keitaro he is determined to get into Tokyo University (Toudai) because of a promise he had made to a childhood friend. As we all know getting accepted into Toudai is no easy task. After failing twice he is forced to live and act as landlord of Hinata Inn, which has now become a girls only dormitory. Keitaro doesn’t have much memory of the girl he made the promise to but he knows that at the time the promise was made he was living with his grandmother, therefore returning to Hinata Inn may just be chance Keitaro needs.

A story about a boy surrounded by girls. There are allot of anime out there with this kind of a plot, enough to even make it a genre itself. However I have to say that not all of them are good, though this is defiantly an exception. This was one the the first anime I had seen and if it weren’t for great content like this I may have not gotten into anime. Each character in this series holds quite the stereotyped anime female person, and the series allows each character a chance to express their individual personalities. Although much of the series is comedy which is great if you bore easily of romantic talk, there is enough focus on relationships and love to classify this as a romance genre. Although I would have liked a conclusion you will probably find after viewing the series that it is Keitaro’s lack of recollection of his childhood friend that makes this series possible.
