Based on the popular manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter follows the adventures of Gon in his search for his father. Although he has little to no memory of his father, what’s certain is that his father was a skilled and famous hunter. Being a hunter means belonging to a certain class of people. This class of people are highly respected in society as Hunters are renowned for their intelligence, physical strength and their ability to accomplish any task given to them. However much like mercenaries there are those who use their skill and expertise to do good and others who side with evil. Although with no specific direction and plan as to how he will find his father, Gon soon makes friends that will see him through the trials that come.

Hunter x Hunter is a series that many would be able to enjoy. Especially the shounen fans out there will appreciate this series for its story and characters. The series has its light moments as well as some more serious ones. I had viewed this series some time after the original run but not once did I think that the series seemed old fashioned. Much like One Piece character and story wise the series places a high emphasis on the friendships that exist, though I guess thats a overall common aspect of shounen anime. The only thing that was displeasing was its conclusion, if you have finished the series like many you will feel somewhat unsatisfied with the open ended ending. But the adventure doesn’t end at the 62nd episode so if you do feel like you want more it is available.
