Name: Great Teacher Onizuka
Genre: Comedy, Drama, School Life
Year: 2000
Rating: Must See
Once a member of a motorcycle gang, Onizuka has had a change of occupation in pursuit of his life long dream of becoming a teacher. Although he is given the chance to change a bunch of delinquents its no easy job. Onizuka has to persevere through the staff and students’ schemes that have the potential of getting him fired. For those who have seen this there is a really good live-action adaptation.
The legendary GTO is a must see for all anime fans. Following after the manga and live-action series the anime version doesn’t let the GTO name down. Although the plot generally follows the same track as the manga a different ending is created which differed from both the live-action and manga. The animation style is far from conventional, some may not be used to the odd close ups here and there but I think that this is one of the aspects that makes GTO so great. I could be wrong but GTO may have started the whole “former delinquent/mafia/gang member teacher changing the lives of delinquents” trend. Either way this is a great series that shouldn’t be missed. Its something that has been enjoyed by many and should be apart of your to watch or have watched list.
