Train Heartnet is a skilled gunman who was once a member of the assassin group known as the Chronos Numbers. After denouncing his codename as number thirteen of the Chronos Numbers, Heartnet becomes a sweeper to earn a living. Though he tries to forget his past he constantly encounters his past partners in crime. With the number thirteen permanently tattooed to his body and his unwillingness to give up his signature Orhalcon weapon he isn’t hard to hind. For those who leave the elite assassination organization one becomes a traitor who must be erased. Known as the Black Cat due to his quick reflexes and as the deliverer of bad luck, he is the most feared amongst the Chronos Numbers. Brought up in a world of conflict, Heartnet’s method of survival is eliminating his opponents. However after meeting Saya Minatsuki, things start to change.

Black Cat instantly reminded me of Trigun, but it was only probably because of the handgun that Heartnet wields. The series is packed with fight scenes. Therefore you wont be bored due to its fast pace. However though the action is speedy the plot lags behind a little. It takes a while for the series to reveal the background of the characters and it is not until the series is about to end that you are finally shown the true plot. In other words you are first given a series of random battles until a final battle finally arrives. Though the first few battles don’t really have anything to do with the final ending, I guess they were used as a means of character development and to show off Heartnet’s cool shooting skills. Black Cat has more than shooting it has some cool fighting with the use of super natural powers. The fights look clean and swift especially the final episode and there is always allot of destruction to grab your attention.
